Meet Shalyn Isaacs
RP (Qualifying), M.Ed

Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

My work is rooted in a commitment to supporting people in reconnecting with their sexuality, pleasure and bodies after trauma and painful relationship experiences.

I believe our experiences of sexuality and intimacy are deeply shaped by our unconscious beliefs, childhood, gender norms, power dynamics, relationship histories, traumas, cultural values, and the messages we’ve received throughout our lives.

I specialize in trauma-informed sex therapy with individuals and couples, drawing from a psychodynamic approach. This means exploring how our early experiences, relationships, and cultural beliefs shape the ways we experience pleasure, seek closeness, and navigate vulnerability.

Rather than seeing sexual difficulties as problems to be fixed, I’m interested in what our experiences of desire and intimacy can tell us about ourselves, our emotions, and our relationships. For those who have experienced trauma, this also means understanding how our bodies have learned to protect us, and creating space to explore new possibilities for safety, connection, and pleasure.

As a South Asian woman, I’m deeply aware of how cultural expectations and shame can shape our relationships with sexuality. My own experiences have contributed to my passion for supporting racialized and LGBTQIA+ communities in exploring sexuality beyond inherited expectations and discovering what sexual agency and pleasure mean to them.

Above all, I value creating a therapeutic space where we can explore the most intimate and vulnerable parts of ourselves with curiosity and compassion.

I believe meaningful change begins with safety and the freedom to move at your own pace. I’d be honoured to support you in discovering what sexuality and intimacy can look like on your own terms.
